AS/400 Family
Applications for the AS/400 system belong not only to the field of management, but also to other sectors, such as accounting, invoicing, warehouse management, and for vertical market segments (textiles, self-sufficiency, shipping, etc.).
Both extremely localized management applications and large international ERPs (SAP, Infor, etc.) can be found in Italy.
The number of existing applications is such that they can meet virtually any request.
The ACG (Accounting Management Application) produced by IBM (now developed and marketed by Team System) for the Italian market and boasting no less than 4,000 installations in Italy deserve an honorable mention, especially for its historical value.
If you are interested in the price of the AS/400 applications, you should be advised that, in general, the cost of management software is comparable to that of the hardware.
Obviously, buying the big international ERP will have a higher cost. By buying an application limited to the Italian market and with fewer functionalities, your cost will be lower.
Many of the AS/400 management systems are also available in “Cloud” mode, so without requiring the AS/400 hardware in your company to be used remotely.
